I normally like to keep it simple, especially in the kitchen. Save space and save clutter. But I love the Garlic Zoom. It is so fast and easy to use and does a fantastic job of mincing garlic. It is easy to clean (I just swish it around in my sink of hot soapy water, rinse and let it air dry). But if one prefers, it can be put into the dishwasher. As a sideline, it is actually FUN to use. I bought them as stocking stuffers for my difficult to buy for family members. Definitely a five star item.

I use alot of garlic when I cook and this little gadget intrigued me when I saw it at BB&B.
But don't waste your money.
Unless your counter top is made of sandpaper the Garlic Zoom just slides across the surface without chopping. You have to get it started with your hand because it has a hard time with the first few cuts (blades are only sharp on one side). I tried using a cutting board instead of the counter top and all I got was a bunch of skid marks from the rubber wheels.
The chopped garlic does not just fall out, you have to scoop it out. I used a plastic knife and didn't get it all.
I gave it 2 stars because the garlic came out uniformly chopped and the construction of the gizmo is sturdy. But, I could chop by hand in half the time and get all my garlic.
As soon as I find my receipt this thing is going back. I'll use the $10 to buy a Slap Chop(It got good reviews on YouTube).
Bottom line, If someone gave me a Garlic Zoom, I'd sell it on eB@#.

**Edited a month later to add: I realize now that I have the XL version of this tool. That may explain why I haven't had the problems that some people are experiencing. If that is the case, get the XL because the slightly larger size and wheels might be making all the difference!**
Honestly, I wouldn't leave a review for this item since I didn't buy it on amazon.com except that I'm buying a new one and I saw all these mixed reviews. My first one I bought from Williams Sonoma even though I'm not a gadget person, as others have specified. It's just that often garlic is the one item that I needed 5 seconds ago as my sauteeing onions are beginning to burn. I thought this would help speed things up and it did! Also, I hate to chop garlic super early on because that means the garlic and the knife I will later use will sit on the countertop where my children are always messing around. It just freaks me out to have a knife laying on the cutting board with my children so present in the kitchen. This garlic zoom got me my garlic in less than a minute and there was no knife needed in what is usually the earliest step of cooking dinner.
I would like to add that my children help me to "chop" the garlic now. They love using it because it's cute! And they can use it! I don't know why so many of them are sticking or not working for other people. I use it on granite counters or on wood cutting boards and it works great. Yes, sometimes it gets stuck on a clove but it always works out as I or my children roll it back and forth. I have never noticed wheel marks or big wastage. It comes with a little scraper so when you need to take out the chopped garlic, you open it, flick the garlic pieces off of the blades (to use), remove the blades, and use the scraper to scrape out all the garlic inside the body and inside the lid. (I don't let my children do this part though.) This gadget has helped make using garlic a non-time intensive step in cooking.
My only complaint on this item is that sometimes garlic pieces get inside the top lid where it's hard to get them back out and clean. Otherwise, I would still be using mine. I ruined mine by not noticing the blades going down into the garbage disposal and I ran the disposal which effectively tore all the blades off the spindle and bent them.
In summary:
1. very fast to use
2. very easy to use; my 5 and 3 year olds help me use it (maybe the 3 year old needs help half the time)
3. can chop several cloves of garlic at a time (I think I did 6 once)
4. it is not the easiest to clean
5. there are small pieces (the blades and the scraper) to get lost or ruined

I have a less is more approach to kitchen utensils and appliances. I don't mind not having a stand mixer or a food processor. But I love fresh garlic and hate to chop it. I also hate to have sticky, stinky garlic fingers. I hate peeling it, too. This product doesn't get you past the peeling part on its own. But if you take the clove, cut off the tip that was attached to the bulb and bash it with something the skin practically falls off. Then you pop it in this little contraption, close the little door and roll the thing across your countertop. The first time I tried to use it my countertop was wet & there wasn't enough friction to make the blades turn. There is a grippy silicone piece on the wheel that will indeed make it turn on your dry countertop. Mine is made of slick granite tiles. The gadget also flings the minced garlic back at the door opening so you really can dump it out with minimal touching. Some garlic does remain inside, but garlic is cheap--if I really don't want to touch the stuff, I'll put in a little extra garlic to make up for what sticks inside. Also, I've found you need to rinse it soon after using to avoid scraping dried garlic off the blades with your fingernails. I am a happy customer.

This is a GREAT product. I bought this for my mom who loves cooking, and she uses it at least once a day! The little blade comes out super easy, it's fun to use, and not to mention it REALLY minces the garlic.
It's an adorable little kitchen tool, but it really works well. Very happy with this purchase and I would purchase from this seller again.
