We have a cat that looks JUST like this welcome mat so it was perfect for our doorstep.
We live in an apartment building in NYC so the mat doesn't get very dirty, nor does it need to be very functional. The reason I mention this is that the quality of the mat is such that it doesn't have a scrubbing texture that would remove much dirt by walking across it. (If you're looking for something that's going to really clean your shoes before you step inside, this is probably not the mat for you. If, on the other hand, you are just looking for a cute welcome mat then you'll probably really like this one.)
The colors were even brighter and sharper in the actual mat than in the pictures. We are very happy with the welcome mat but I don't think it would do a great job to actually clean your shoes before going inside. (That's why I only gave it 3 stars.)
